This is Flamenco Beach in Culebra, one of the worlds more beautiful
beaches.
From
the ferry dock in Culebra or from outside the airport you can easily
catch public transportation to Flamenco Beach. $2. each way.
You
would be wise to take your drinking water (and perhaps a sandwich)
with you. You can eat in town ... or sometimes the Restaurant/Bar,
at the hotel at the far end of the beach, is open. Little Kiosks
that sell cheap food have opened in Flamenco Beach but probably
not in the winter mid-week.
Culebra
has more tourists than Vieques Island and is more expensive. The
'Water Taxi' ride out to Culebrita Island and/or to Luis Pena Island
is well worth the trip. The Campgrounds on Flamenco beach is one
of the better places to camp in the world, you may need a permit
in advance, you may not. ..see the camping pages for info.
Kayaking
is great fun in Culebra. Kayaking in Puerto Rico offers a day time snorkeling trip.
Culebra
is a nice place to bicycle. Culebra Bike and Beach Rentals 787-742-2209
is located right in town.
Information
about Culebra can be found on the Isla
Culebra Website.
