FEEDING THE FISH ON LOBOS ISLAND REEF

Lava rock formation east of Arecibo Puerto Rico

These lava arches are on the North coast just East of Arecibo at the 'Cueva del Indio'. An interesting archeological site, a cave with Taino Petroglyphs on the wall. There's a small concession called 'El Coayuco' which is all you see from the road. They sell snacks etc.. The mother and daughter who run the concession are extremely helpful. It is just across the street from an Esso station, four miles east of the Arecibo lighthouse.


Pinones Beach on the north coast just east of San Juan road 187. Puerto Rico

Vacia Talega beach, part of the long strip of beach comprising the 'Pinones Nature Reserve' just east of the San Juan Airport on rd # 187. A very scenic way to drive east from San Juan.

Allthough it's very beautiful this area is notorious for theft and you should never be on the beach alone nor park your car in a deserted area. If there are others at the beach, you'll be fine here. Remember thieves can spot tourists by their rental cars and are tempted to open the trunk to see what cameras and wallets you've left for them! Good surfing at 'Aviones'. Great scenic drive to Loiza and beyond.

I always go this way whenever possible but only during the daylight hours.
